Messias

20 Year Old Tawny Port

Simply the best value 20 year old tawny port on the market -
awarded an exceptional 95 points by Decanter

Reviews:
*** 95 Points Decanter Magazine ***
Very pale amber/tawny/orange colour. Fine and delicate aromas of hazelnuts and candied citrus. Quince marmalade character, delicate in style, with finesse and poise. Seemingly quite dry in style towards the finish (not as obviously rich as some here), and supremely refined. 18.5pts/20 (95/100pts)

Nuits-Saint-Georges, 2002

Jean Chauvenet

Capital of the Côte de Nuits, this village is the home to the Hospices de Nuits that organizes an important auction of its production every year, as do the Hospices de Beaune. The main street in Nuits-Saint-Georges is named after Fagon, the doctor who treated Louis XIV and prescribed the town's wine for him. This is the most southernly appellation of the Côte de Nuits producing wines rich in tannin which gives them strength, depth and a high potential for laying down.

In terms of taste you should expect morello cherries , vanilla , chocolate and a wonderful backbone.

Serve at room temperature between 17°C to 18°C and pair with game, venison and all grilled and roasted meat.

Tasting notes:
With a well-defined tawny hue with orange-like hints, its aroma is intense and complex, with notes of vanilla, cinnamon, pepper, ginger, exotic wood, cedar, plum and hazel. On the palate, its fine structure and balance between sugars and tannins stand out. the finish is delicate and lingering.

Production method:

The addition of wine alcohol at the ideal moment sets the balance between the wine's body and bouquet. Toasty, candied fruits, notes of exotic spices, rhubarb, stone fruit. Silky bubbles, full bodied, wonderful length and concentration.

Reviews: ‘’...extremely promising combination of the completeness and potential of the 2002 champagne vintage and Bollinger's distinctive mushroomy perfume, full Pinot-dominated palate and dry finish. This should make great old bones and, thanks to 2002's power, is already much more approachable than many previous young vintage Bollingers.

Chateau Gloria, 2002

St Julien

The 2002 Chateau Gloria is generous and well-structured, these intense, complex wines are typical of the Saint Julien appellation. The result of traditional vinification, they have a strong, rich colour. On the palate, they are expressive, rounded and supple. They should be kept for a few years to express their full potential.

Château Gloria's plots were acquired by Henri Martin, mayor of Saint-Julien Beychevelle during the 20th century. This unavoidable figure of the Médoc (one of the founding members of the Commanderie du Bontemps) has raised this vintage to the level of excellent classified growths of the appellation.
